Control Cravings for Wrong Food Types & Lose the Spare Tire

During special occasions, people often over-indulge in the types of foods that spike their blood sugar, raise their insulin, and pack on pounds around their waist. Waist size has been shown to be a marker for "metabolic syndrome:" the body responds to spiking blood sugar with more carbohydrate cravings, becomes resistant to insulin, stores extra fat, raises unhealthy cholesterol, and becomes inflamed. There is a simple way to recover your balance of healthy eating and rid yourself of cravings for the wrong foods. Beware of Hidden Sugars

Ketchup is 1/3 sugar! Barbeque sauce is not much better.

Bottled iced-tea is often made with the worst kind of sweeteners -- high-fructose corn syrup, aspartame, or sucralose.

The only way you can be really certain of what is in a food, sauce, or beverage is to prepare it yourself. Baste meats with olive oil and sprinkle them with herbs and spices. Brew large pitchers of tea (it’s just hot water and tea bags) and if you need a sweetener, add Stevia, agave, raw honey, or xylitol. Keep it in the fridge and fill up your stainless-steel water bottle with it.

Once you get into the habit, it’s very easy.
